Ghoori Gol wetland is located approximately 30 km from Tabriz on Tabriz-Tehran Road and it is 18 km away from Bostan Abad County. Its drainage basin area is 3146 hectares, which is a part of the basin area of Aji Chai River, which flows into Lake Urmia. The nearest villages to the wetland are Yousefabad and Amnab. The wetland is reported to have an area of 160 to 200 hectares. The basin of Ghoori Gol wetland is a small sub-basin from the main basin of Lake Urmia and is separated from Lake Urmia’s basin by Kandul mountain with an altitude of 2239 meters above sea level. The lake is surrounded by hills and not-so-high mountains. The highest point of the drainage basin is only 320 meters higher than the lake’s surface, which is located on the northwestern part of the lake, the height of which decreases constantly and gradually towards the lake. In the northern part of the drainage basin, a series of rocky mountains encloses the basin. The average height of these mountains is 250 meters above the lake. The eastern part of the lake is surrounded by hills with an altitude of 190 meters above the lake
